Evolution of Hunters Badminton Club

Established in 1958 as the Dagenite Battery Company Badminton Club, our organization has undergone several transformations to become the vibrant community hub it is today. Originally situated at Hunters Hall School in Dagenham, our humble beginnings were rooted in a simple yet profound aim: to provide local enthusiasts with a space to enjoy the exhilarating sport of badminton.

In 1979, reflecting our commitment to growth and evolution, we rebranded as Hunters Hall Badminton Club. This change marked a new chapter in our journey, symbolizing our dedication to embracing progress while remaining true to our founding principles.

A significant milestone occurred in 1996 when we relocated to the modern facilities of the Wood Lane Sports Centre in Dagenham. This move not only provided our members with upgraded amenities but also prompted a subtle yet meaningful alteration in our name, dropping "Hall" to reflect our renewed identity.

In 2015, we found a new home at Dagenham Park Leisure Centre, marking yet another exciting phase in our development. In 2023 we moved to our new permanent home at the Harris Academy in Lambs Lane South Rainham. With this relocation came an expanded horizon as our membership base extended beyond Dagenham and Barking, encompassing enthusiasts from Rainham, Romford, Upminster, Brentwood, and Thurrock

Our commitment to fostering a strong badminton community is evidenced by the establishment of multiple teams participating in the Barking, Havering, and District League. From men's doubles to ladies' doubles and mixed doubles, our teams compete with passion and sportsmanship, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and competition.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have remained steadfast in our resolve to provide a safe environment for our members. Adhering strictly to government guidelines, we have adapted our operations to ensure the well-being of everyone involved while continuing to promote the joy of badminton.
